2008 Firecracker Sectional a Huge Success

The Unit owes the success of this event to so many:

First, Chair Steve Lubeck. He wishes to acknowledge Alan Cummings who secured the Hyatt as the tournament site, John Hornback who planned the table layout, Alan Templeton for the web set-up for posting daily results, photographers Roy Robinson and Lori Spaeth, Fran Bennett for flyer distribution and hotel arrangements and the 2007 chair, Roy Robinson who taught Steve all he needed to know on tournament organization.

2009 Firecracker shaping up

The 2009 Firecracker Tournament will be held in the Santa Clara Convention Center (next door to the Hyatt Regency Santa Calra) from Wednesday afternoon, June 1st, through Sunday, June 5th.

Once again, we are fortunate to have Steve Lubeck chairing our tournament and Nancy Boyd as our Director in Charge. Our tournament will feature a fun-filled selection of games (pairs and teams including compact knockouts) for players at all levels (experienced through Intermediate/Newcomer), guest speakers, and more. We plan to provide hand records in addition to game results on our website. The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara will again be offering a special room rate for players.

As soon as the schedule of events is finalized we'll make it available here and in the Kibitzer.

We need volunteers! 

Steve Lubeck is our tournament chair and Fran Bennet will coordinate this year's Partnership Desk this year. Other assignments will be filled later.
