Open Amateur Radio Repeaters
in the
Santa Clara Valley
Page

This is a list of OPEN repeaters in or near the Santa Clara Valley of California. Please note that whether a repeater requires CTCSS (continuous tone-coded squelch system) for access is not related to whether the repeater is OPEN or CLOSED. CTCSS is used to prevent intermodulation, and to allow more frequency pairs to be "re-used" in other areas while minimizing interference.

Most repeaters, including these OPEN repeaters, require INPUT CTCSS for access, as recommended by the local repeater coordination group, the Northern Amateur Relay Council of California. Some repeaters ENCODE CTCSS on their OUTPUT, usually to allow users to guard their mobile receivers, so as to hear only their local repeater, instead of a co-channel repeater in another community.
This is NOT a list of all repeaters. It is intended to help the newcomer find OPEN repeaters. If you would like to have your group's OPEN repeater listed here, please e-mail.
Listed below you will find the repeater OUTPUT frequency, the transmit OFFSET direction, the repeater CALL SIGN, the LOCATION of the repeater, the COVERAGE area(s), and the CTCSS information. Some listings have hypertext links to the repeater organization or group's web page, where more information can be found.
The offset for six meters is 500 kHz; the offset for two meters is 600 kHz; the offset for two-twenty-two is 1.6 mHz; the offset for four-forty is 5 mHz; the offset for 902 is 25 mHz; the offset for 1200 is 12 mHz; the offset for 2400 is 20 mHz.
Frequencies that are listed right next to each other, without spacing, or listed as *LINKED*, indicates that those repeaters are cross-linked, usually full-time. Whatever is said on any of them goes out on all of them. Some clubs and associations have the ability to link and unlink their repeater systems. Generally, those repeaters are linked during nets and special events.
